The day began just like any other day in Iraq. I got down from the top bunk of
the bed stretched and shook my head trying to wake myself up. I started putting on as I picked up my top dust flowed off of it like it had just sat there for years. I finished getting dressed and walked towards the door; with every step towards the door I could feel the heat of the day on my face. I opened the door and heat rushed over my body like someone turned on a huge blow dryer. As I walked towards the johns the thought of home swept over my mind, I couldnt wait to leave this living Hell. Little did I know that day someone wouldnt see the day we left.
It was time to start getting ready for the daily patrol in our section of the city of Al Rhamdi. In my platoon we had four Hum-vees, we had to setup for the mission we went on. My best friend Lewis and I were on the same truck. Lewis and I met about two years before Iraq. We did everything together, went to clubs, picked up women, and went to movies. He was there for me in the good times, and the bad times, and I made sure I did the same for him.......
