Gay Rights and American Politics Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Today in the United States of America, there are many major political issues. One issue on the front burner would be gay and lesbian rights. The Republican Party is the conservative in the two major political parties in America. The president, George W. Bush, is part of the Republican Party. The Democratic Party is the liberal party. Most Republicans are against giving homosexuals their desired rights. As for the Democrats, most feel that homosexuals deserve certain rights, as did minorities in the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s. In this paper, I will show both the democratic and republican stand points on gay rights. There are always two sides to every issue, for or against. On the website Public Agenda, it clearly states different perspectives on the issue of gay rights. The first perspective states, “Protect and extend equal rights of all our citizens” (publicagenda.org). This perspective would be considered the liberal perspective.
