The other author who created a spy as a complex character was John le Carré. This British novelist wrote several spy novels dealing with espionage: Call for the Death, A Murder of Quality, The Spy Who Come In from the Cold, The Looking-Glass War, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Honourable Schoolboy, Smiley’s, Russia House. In most of them appears fictional hero George Smiley. Smiley is an secret agent working for MI6. Like Ian Fleming le Carré also worked for British intelligence. He was a member of the British Foreign Service from 1959 to 1964, serving first as Second Secretary in the British Embassy in Bonn and subsequently as Political Consul in Hamburg. Le Carré says that he came to create George Smiley, by ‘putting him together from various components – either real or imagined – of my own situation, and adding the solvent of my own filial affection and admiration.’ (www.wikipedia.com) These words provide similarities between the character and his creator. The author introduces special nicknames for both, British and Russian, intelligence centrals......
