Throughout human existence there has and still is a constant tug-a-war between the use and misuse of power. Aspects of power which assist in illuminating this thesis are the use of fear to manipulate others and the use of religious power. Three particular texts which convey these ideas are the crucible, by Arthur Miller, the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, composed by Clive Staples Lewis, and Star wars: The Phantom Menace, written and directed by George Lucas. These texts portray evidence that human history has constantly used and misused power as the Crucible is based on events which occurred in the 1600s, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe was written back in the 1950s, and Star wars episode one was screened in 1999. Fear is an emotion used by people to transform their fellow echelons into sheep who follow and obey the exhibitor of fear; thus empowering the user of fear.
