Anorexia Nervosa
Anorexia nervosa is a psychological illness. This illness begins when a person starts a weight loss diet. Even when the person has established a weight loss that was needed the condition still continues. The person wants to eat little in spite of hunger and appearance. A person who has this illness has a distorted body image and will feel fat even when they are skeleton-like.
In 1964 the illness anorexia nervosa was discovered by an English doctor by the name of Richard Martan. The disease mostly spreads through western countries due to the pressure of being skinny.
The cause for this illness is not known. But some people believe that it may be because the person is aggravated by family and/or social problems. Also, the societys obsession with being extremely slim has caused many people to have insecurities and phobias about their weight and putting more on. Anorexia nervosa can be a symptom of depression or a personality disorder.
