Why Child Obesity is a Sociological Problem My hypothesis has gradually changed as I learned exactly what was meant by a sociological problem. There have been plenty of discussions as to the fact that child obesity is a problem, the causes, and possible solutions, but it wasn’t until recently that I actually knew why society as a whole should look at it as a problem. Obesity is usually thought to be a personal problem involving only the individual and maybe the family members. Now you will see what the real truth is and I will show why obesity should be the concern of society as a whole. Our hypothesis is that children between the ages of 6 and 12 who suffer from obesity (at or above the 95th percentile on the body mass index chart), are more likely to become obese adults and as such become a drain on the American economy. I shall open our report by explaining the definitions of child obesity, followed by some possible explanations of child obesity. Next I will show the links between childhood obesity and adult obesity, also explaining where it is most prevalent and who is......
