Analysis of an Oregon County Jail Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

In regards to the tour of the Jackson County Jail on November 4, 2003: The Jackson County Jail would probably be considered a relic when compared to other jails of today. It sits behind the county buildings on the west side of downtown Medford. As you enter into the lobby and are allowed through the security doors, which require pass authorization, you enter the visiting area. There are eight glass visitation booths as well as three private rooms for inmates and their attorneys to converse in. Inmates are allowed visitation only on the weekends, with the males having two-thirty minute sessions on Saturdays & Sundays, and females having one-sixty minute session on Sundays. Prisoners are required to hand in a visitation list with up to six people on it, by the Friday prior to visitations in order to reserve a booth. It appeared to me to be fairly inadequate considering the 230 population currently in holding the jail currently has.
