With increasing education and job opportunities for women, not only has female participation in the workforce increased substantially but the number of female graduates has also begun to exceed male graduates. If this is the case, then it is time to explore the possibility of men marrying better-educated wives with higher incomes than themselves.
The overarching purpose of this paper is to explore the profound case of husbands who earn substantially less or work in lower status occupations than their wives. It seeks to understand the new dynamics between the couple when the wife brings in the larger side of the bacon.
