Symbolism in Hills Like White Elephants
A symbol is an object, person, situation, action, or some other literal element that has an indicatory meaning as well as a literal one or something that means more than it suggest superficially. Symbolism is like a painting on the wall, where the characters are acting around it. It is something that is not noticed right off, but is there making its presence felt. Shakespeare uses blood as the symbolism of guilt in Macbeth. The blood is seen as their guilt and they which they cant rid themselves of until the crime is punished by their own deaths. Symbolism is also an important element in Wuthering Heights and the use of the moors. A moor is primarily comprised of wide, wild expanses, high but somewhat soggy, and thus infertile making navigation difficult.
