Introduction
Within a group there are many roles. However, the leadership role is the most important and most valuable role, as it influences and directs the behaviour of others in the group. A leadership style refers to the characteristics demonstrated by the leader of the group when directing that group. The two broad categories or styles of leadership identified by psychologist are: task oriented ( concerned with achieving the set goal) and socially oriented ( concerned with the social and emotional wellbeing of the group).Psychologist have also identified three leadership styles along a continuum, ranging from the autocratic leader (one who makes all the decision) to the democratic leader ( one who encourages all group members to share in the decision-making process), to the laissez-faire leader ( one who takes no responsibility or action for the group).

To investigate which of the three leadership styles is the most effective.
