Luck vs. Coincidence Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

When comparing two similar objects or terms, it can be considered obvious and clear to the eye that they share similarities which make them alike. However, when trying to see the differences between two almost identical ideas, it is necessary to dig deep into their meanings to observe their diverse characteristics. This can be seen when breaking down the two concepts of "luck" and "coincidence." Although they seem indistinguishable, one will find that the factors and aspects of these two words differ. According to Webster's Rosetta Edition Dictionary, the definition for the word "luck" is "overall circumstances or conditions in life or an unknown and unpredictable phenomenon that causes an event to result one way rather than another." Using the same source, the definition of "coincidence" reads: "an event that might look like it's been arranged although it was really accidental." People often misinterpret the meanings of these two words and categorize them as being the same.
