Great Expectations Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

‘Great Expectations’ by Charles Dickens tells the strangeness a little boy passes when he enters a house. Many aspects of the text gives us evidence to support this statement. It all starts when: “ The first thing I noticed is that the passages were all dark.” Darkness is something which always makes people more insecure about their feelings, and imagine what will they face when the lights are on. The only light he could see was a lighted candle burning beside the door, which the girl took with them the whole path through. We can see that the boy feels, since the beginning, insecure of what he is about to see. This is showed on the line: “...and she said ‘go in’ . I answered more in shyness than politeness, ‘After you miss’. “ What we can see from the girl’s attitude is that she is imperious/rude, by saying: “ Don’t be ridiculous boy, I am not going in” . We can feel that she treats him as if she is better than him, or maybe as if she has more experiences than him.
