Language Analysis - The Princess Bride Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

During scene four of the movie, ‘Princess Bride’, it focuses generally on some of the main characters. This includes: The man in black (Westly), Inigo Montoya, Fezzik and Vizzini. This scene is practically known as the ‘fighting scene’ because of the intense swordfight between the man in black and Inigo Montoya. As of scene three, scene four is continuing the rescue of Princess Buttercup by Westly. Vizzini, Inigo and Fezzik had taken the Princess while she was out riding on a horse unaccompanied through the forest. By the end of this scene Westly has become quite ‘friendly’ with Inigo and Fezzik and this helps him on his journey throughout the rest of the story. The main themes for this scene are: true love, determination and competition. Westly has entered this scene hoping not to be recognised, so he disguised himself by being totally dressed in black. He is very well known for his politeness and respect towards his enemies (“Look, I don’t mean to be rude but this is not as easy as it looks, so I’d appreciate it if you wouldn’t distract me.”, “Thank you.”).
