Sonnet 132 Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Love poems are usually that of endless perfections, and godly appearances. However, Shakespeare steps outside of the habitual train of thought. Sonnet 130 utilizes an uncommon way of expressing love. In his poem, Shakespeare decides to be honest about his love. Shakespeare, instead of glamorizing his love, speaks truthfully about her appearances and many imperfections.
In the first quatrain Shakespeare begins by describing his mistress eyes, which are lacking the vibrant glow of the sun. He then goes on to say that her lips lack much color. He also goes on to say that his mistress breasts are dun-color instead of white. Finally in this quatrain Shakespeare mentions his mistress hair being of similarity to wires.
The second quatrain is different from the first. Shakespeare succeeds in making only two comparisons instead of four in this quatrain. Shakespeare believes that his mistress cheeks lack color.
