In the movie Looking for Alibrandi the producer, Kate Woods takes us, the viewers into the perspective of a 17-year-old Italian girl named Josie Alibrandi. She is caught between two very different societies, neither of which accepted her. Attending St. Marthas High School she is outcaste and unaccepted by all the wealthy, upper class girls in her school. Also being the Scholarship Girl puts a lot of pressure on Josies shoulders. Not only does she experience rejection from her own classmates but also from her own family. From the very day she was born the three Alibrandi women Josie, her Mother (Christina) and her Grandmother (Katia) were all outcaste from the family. Katia Alibrandi believes it is a curse put upon them when Josie was born and that they are lucky to be included in the family. So as for Josie she has to deal with being the Italian reject at her school, the family black sheep find the love of her life and try to break the family curse.
