C.E.W Bean had a huge role in the creation of the Australian War Memorial (AWM). Charles Bean born in Bathurst, New South Wales, on the eighteenth of November 1879. Bean was the driving force behind the establishment of the AWM. The essay will describe how Bean was involved in the Development and Conception of the Australian War Memorial, what the original aims of the AWM were and Beans involvement, Finally explain the influences on the Design of the AWM.
Firstly where did the idea and development of the AWM come from. Two men moulded the development of the AWM: John Treloar and Charles Bean. The development of the AWM and idea that came with it was mainly when Charles Bean had seen the devoted soldiers in the battlefield and had seen that they were huge collectors of souvenirs, that may just have been different sand samples from each country.
