Julius Caesar Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Throughout Shakespeare’s tragedy “Julius Caesar” Caesar made three integral mistakes that if avoided, could have saved his unfulfilled life. The first mistake was when Caesar ignored the soothsayer’s warning, “beware the Ides of March.” After ignoring the soothsayer, Caesar went on to be absentmindedly coaxed into attending the senate on the Ides of March be Decius. The third mistake made by Caesar was brushing off Artemidorus when Artemidorus wrote a letter to Caesar about the conspiracy and when Caesar was to be murdered. Despite many attempts the soothsayer failed to convince Caesar to beware the Ides of March. This mistake completely contradicts Caesar’s superstitious nature because in act II, scene II Caesar instructs one of his servants to have the augurs to perform a sacrifice. The soothsayer is firs introduced in act I, scene II when he first warns Caesar, Caesar turns his back and says, “He is a dreamer. Let us leave him. Pass,” this foreshadowed Caesar’s death.
