1. Compare the dominant personality types in the Dell corporation before and after the Internet Bubble burst in 2001.
Looking at the way Dell operates before the Internet bubble burst in 2001, I personally feel that Dell has a mixture of the Type A personality and the Core Self Evaluation personality. This is partly due to the personality of its two leader Michael Dell and Kevin Rollins who is both seen as aggressive and autocratic leaders.
Type A personality
The type A personality here refers to a specific pattern or behavior displayed by an individual or organization. People with Type A personality tend to display the following characteristic:
« Impatient
« Aggressive
« Strong willingness to compete in all situations
« Desire to multitask under time constraints
All the characteristic above were displayed by Dell during its early stage. Issues like over providing technological sophistication then what the customers wanted shows that Dell was over aggressive and also over ambitious, a sign of the type A personality.
