Othello plot summary Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

ACT 1, SCENE 1 The play opens with Iago talking to Roderigo about the ‘moor’ Othello. Iago is angry because Cassio was made lieutenant to Othello and not himself. Iago plans to manipulate other people in order to become lieutenant. Iago and Roderigo go to Brabantio’s house. Iago tells Brabantio about Othello taking his daughter away and that his house has been robbed. “Awake! What ho, Brabantio! Thieves, thieves/Look at your house, your daughter, and your bags!/Thieves, thieves! Iago hates Othello but presents himself as a kind and caring person, that’s just to accomplish his plan of betrayal. ACT 1, SCENE 2 Iago tries to be friendly with Othello telling him when danger is coming “It is Brabantio; general, be advised,/He comes with bad intent” by telling him this he gets Othello’s trust so that he can get the truth out of him about his love for Desdemona. Othello doesn’t care what other people think about his relationship and just carries on. Othello is told to go to the duke by Cassio. Iago tells Cassio Othello is married. Brabantio and Roderigo look for Desdemona......
