The Roaring Twenties were a time of riches, wealth, and prosperity. During this time of economical growth, people enjoyed having a good time and just relaxing while the country prospered. The consumption of alcohol was a way to help Americans relax and enjoy life. People were often found in parties or clubs drinking and sharing an evening of fun with their friends and family. One would not see these people as criminals, but in the eyes of the government and many other organizations, they were seen as evil people. Depending on which side one supported, prohibition was either a matter of good morals or a matter of having a good time. Evangelist Billy Sunday stated at the beginning prohibition, The reign of tears is over. The slums will soon be a memory. We will turn our prisons into storehouses. Men will walk upright now, women will smile and children will laugh. Hell will forever be for rent.
