In act one of the play Romeo and Juliet we learn the fate of “the star-crossed lovers”. The story begins with a prologue. The prologue tells the doom and destiny of the characters Romeo and Juliet. It talks about the two aristocratic feuding and how they shouldn’t be fighting “where civil blood makes civil hands unclean”. The death of the ill-fated lovers causes peace between the families when obviously; it is too late, “doth with their death bury their parents strife”. One of the main characters in this play is Romeo, part on the Montague house. When we learn about him it is Benvolio (his friend) and Lord Capulet talking about how withdrawn he is since he met Rosaline. Romeo had recently met a girl called Rosaline; he has fallen in love with her but she is not in love with him “out of her favour where I am in love”. Romeo is very moody and inhibited when Benvolio tries to talk him out of his mood. Romeo is only about seventeen so he never realises it is just an infatuation with Rosaline.
