Introduction:
As a group, we have chosen The Permanent Way, written by David Hare, to perform for an audience. We chose this docu-drama from a paradigm of docu-dramas that we had narrowed down as a group. Other plays that we could have performed were, The colour of Justice, a piece about the Stephan Laurence inquiry, using actual statements given by the witnesss and family during the trial. The Laramie Project which uses interviews which were given to the residents of Wyoming in relation to the killing of a homosexual man. And lastly Then Investigation, this also uses statements from workers and witnesss of the Nazi concentration camps about the murders happening in the chambers.
I was interested in the political views of David Hare, since I had read Stuff Happens and was particularly pleased when the group made the decision to perform The Permanent Way. His work educated me, which allowed me to form a more educated opinion about the subject that he had discussed in the piece.
