Should Race be a Factor in the College Admission Process?
In an ideal world, race would play no role. The same goes for gender, religion, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. Employers might use the factor of race to determine if the job seeker gets the job. Colleges often use a mark your race box on their applications. It will probably be marked optional. If there is one, why should it be checked? Race should not play a part in college admissions. It should be strictly based on whos next in line with a high grade point average and high quality test scores. Favoring one group is going to discriminate against another group. Being admitted to a college is a privilege-not a right. The color of ones skin does not determine the level of ones intellect.
Today in America, college acceptance is based on countless objects. The most important is scholastic achievement. Race should not be a factor for college admission because there is racial equality, there have been many influential ethnic role models, and there is a need for ones acceptance within a race.......
