The truth is a hard thing to find in the modern world, especially in light the revelation of FRONTLINE that in many instances, the truth is not what people want to hear or the media want to tell. Indeed, by selecting certain issues and emphasising certain methods of conveying them, the team can distort the truth in order to succeed on the ratings field, just as Bush and Kerry were able to select parts of their life and emphasis emotions they hoped to invoke in the US ELECTIONS 2004.
Selection and emphasis is used by the Frontline team to turn objective truths into their version of the truth. The subtlety with which this tactic can be employed makes it far more threatening to the upholding of the truth than straight-out lying does, as it twists actual events and uses them against the pursuit of what really happened.
