'A london fete' and 'London' by William Blake Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Compare and Contrast the Ways in Which Both Poems Are a Critique of London Society From reading the two poems it becomes apparent that both poets’ have a pessimistic view of life in the eighteenth century. This is easy to see as both poems focus on the bad and dark side of human nature, both using a semantic field of horror to emphasise this, one bad side of life in the eighteenth century that both poets focus on is that of the exploitation of children. The way in which both poems are written differs dramatically; one obvious difference is that ‘A London Fete’ is written as a ballad whereas London is written in versus. This makes quite a significant difference to how the poems are read because by ‘A London Fete’ being a ballad it tells a story whereas ‘London’ is just a general reflection on life in the eighteenth century. Another major difference between the two poems is how the rhyming pattern in ‘A London Fete’ changes throughout whereas in ‘London’ it stays the same all through the poem. ‘London’ is a poem written in the eighteenth century by William Blake in ......
