Investigation into Reaction Distances Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Statistics Maths Coursework
For this piece of work I will primarily be looking at reaction distances between groups of people inside my school. The test was to drop a ruler from the top of the hand and let the subject catch it in the quickest distance possible, then record that distance.
My hypotheses are:
Girls have a shorter reaction distance than boys
Younger boys have a shorter reaction distance than older boys
People with longer hair have longer reaction distances
To do this I will use a variety of average calculations, positive correlation tests (using graphs and if needs be Spearmans rank)
Estimations and predictions
I believe my first hypothesis my have some bearing to reality. It is commonly accepted that females are more on task and aware than males and I therefore believe this could account for their short reaction distances.
I believe for my second hypothesis younger boys will be quicker than older boys because of their younger and fresher bodies, not to mention their keenness to do well in an almost competitive situation.
