Who are we?
The question of the Filipino identity has always been an issue and debates have always risen from it. Most, if not all Filipinos are uneasy when in a conversation about their culture. This may be due to the lack of respect the people we encounter give to our culture, as Zialcita pointed out. This situation is comparable to the question, which came first, the chicken or the egg? A person which is confident with their identity is well respected by his neighbors. But a person well respected by others becomes more confident with his identity. He (Zialcita) also emphasized that we Filipinos bastardize ourselves. When others praise us, instead of being proud, we mention that it is the contrary. This may be due to the reason that we are ashamed of being a Filipino, for our neighbors think lowly of us.
Most of educated Filipinos nowadays only consider the non-Christian culture as the true Filipino culture. Chris......
