Fences
The late August Wilsons, an African American playwright wrote many plays but Wilsons best and most popular play Fences was directed by Don Horton witch took place at the Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona. I got the chance to view the play Fences directed by Don Horton on October 2, 2006. August Wilsons play, Fences was set in the early 1950s dealing with an African American family having to go through the hard times of the racial inequality movement. The family lived in a poverty struck home were they dealt with domestic dispute, infidelity, and embezzlement of money. A man named Troy Maxson (Charles St. Clare) was the head of his house hold and a former baseball player for the Negro leagues. He also was a Pittsburgh garbage collector with a racist heat towards the white men. Troy felt that he was dealt a bad hand in life do to the racial inequality of sports and work. Troy is a man who was raised by an abusive father and left home at the age of fourteen. Troy still lives in the past and fails to realize that times have changed and things are different.......
