Part I: Childrens Books
The first book that I will discuss is Albert and Lila by Rafik Shami. This book is about animals on a farm. Albert is a white pig and all of the other pigs are of different colors. As he is the only white pig on the farm the other do not want to be friends with him. This book teaches a lesson about diversity and how it can affect people. The lesson learned is that it is ok to be different. Albert tried to make friends by asking them to play they really never let him play because he was different than the rest of the pigs. They let him play hide and go seek one winter day and when he went to go and hide he posed as a statue covered in snow, but he sneezed and was revealed. Because of this all of the pigs called him names like stupid statue and they were telling him that he cannot do anything right. Because of the way the other pigs treated him he felt sad an alone and he went to play by him self. Also on the same farm is a hen named Lila an she is long past her egg laying days. Lila knows that if she does not lay eggs the farmer will get rid of her. Lila ......
