Medea There are many ongoing reasons that prove Medea to be dependant. She is one of those people who rely on other people all the time, just like a baby relies on its mother for food and all of its needs. Well Medea relies on the love of a man for all of her needs. Medea’s “world has turned into emity” (line 15). Jason and his crew of the ship, the Argo, sailed to Colchis, a city in Asia and Medea’s home, to search for the legendary Golden Fleece. Medea who was a sorceress and a princess, fell in love with Jason, so she used her magic to help him secure the fleece, she eventually went with him to Iolcus, his home. Where she became dependant on him, but she needed her magic to do so. Now that she feels their love is secure she can depend on him to protect her because that is a man’s job, to protect his wife. Jason hopes to succeed as king so he abandons Medea and the children as he remarries Glauce, the daughter of Creon, king of Corinth.
