How to Hit a Baseball Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Anybody who has ever played baseball dreams of being the player that hits the game winning home run, or being the team or leagues MVP. All of these things could be easily accomplished as long as they have a balanced batting stance, see the ball, and maintain a level swing. On September 10, 1960 Mickey Mantle of the New York Yankees displayed all of these techniques when he hit the longest recorded homerun in Major League Baseball history measuring 634 feet. The first and most important technique to hitting a baseball is to have a good batting stance. There are many different styles and variations in batting stances, but the best stance to teach is to make sure that the batters feet are just over a shoulders length apart, and the knees slightly bent. Once the feet are set at the proper distance the batter should have his weight balanced slightly more on the back foot, but at the same time making sure not to be leaning too far forward or backwards.
