Haste and its affects in Romeo and Juliet Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Throughout the play, haste played a dominant role in the eventual tragedy. It can be said that if the characters had thought through their decisions and understood the consequences of which their actions may result in, the tragedy of the play may not have occurred, or at least have been met with reason. By not thinking through their decisions, Romeo, Juliet and the Friar, were not only acting impetuously, but also continued to play into fates hands. Too a certain degree, both Romeo and Juliet were aware that their relationship was moving extremely quickly, “It is too rash, too unadvised, too sudden”. However, their feelings of love for each other greatly dominated over their voice of caution and reason, and thus resulted in the overall rushed pace of the play. During the course of the play, Romeo acted in an extremely hasty and impulsive fashion. His sudden and thoughtless actions were a significant cause of the play’s eventual ending.
