Black Death Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
The most well known outbreak plague was The Black Death, which ravaged Europe between 1348 and 1351. It was devastating because there had been no plague in Europe for a very long time and most people were unprepared for it. Believing that the Day of Judgement was at hand, bands of flagellants roamed through Europes cities, striped to the waist and whipping themselves to mortify flesh and punish themselves for any sins. Although the Black Death has disappeared from Europe, it was still endemic in Asia, with an outbreak occurring in China in the 1330s. I think that the diseases were spread because of contagion or maybe the Scots heard that the plague was in England, and thought it was punishment from God upon them. Maybe a religious reason caused the plague, maybe German cities or foreign Jews believed to have caused the deaths by poisoning the wells.
What made things worse was the fact that London was almost certainly hit by a combined attack of pneumonic and bubonic plague. It seems to have travelled across the south in bubonic form during the summer months of 1348, before ......
