Till We Have Faces: Love Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

C.S. Lewis’ attitude towards love is filled with sadness and dreadfulness, not for the people who love, but for love itself. The ways in which he shares his sadness towards love are in his quote about love and vulnerability, and in Till We Have Faces. In the quote he states that “To love is to be vulnerable” and that anybody who loves will be weak and fragile. At first, one would think that Lewis is almost protecting love from the evil that it can be made to do by scaring people and making them think that loving is wrong. But really, he is poking fun at the way society functions by being sarcastic. Everybody needs love, whether it is love for another being or whether it is love for a favorite food. It is clear after reading this quote and also being halfway through Till We Have Faces that Lewis believes not only that nobody has the ability to not love, he also believes that nobody can love for the right reasons, or that nobody can have divine love. Lewis contends that love doesn’t have a choice, it could be used for either the right reasons are the wrong, selfish reasons. Lov......
