Difference between Brutus and Cassius Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar takes place in ancient Rome where a group of conspirators plot the death of Julius Caesar because he is too ambitious. Two of the many conspirators’ are Brutus and Cassius. Many would come to the conclusion that these two men are alike, but they are complete opposites. In fact, these characters can be called foils. While Cassius is manipulative and dishonorable, Brutus is naïve and noble. Because of these differences many obstacles are set along their path of killing Julius Caesar. Cassius is manipulative because he tricks innocent people into doing things his way and Brutus is naïve because he does not have a good judgment of character. He does not realize the intentions of Cassius and the other conspirators for murdering Julius Caesar. For example, if Cassius believes that sending letters to Brutus will win Brutus on his side, then the people of Rome would not be able to discern the real intentions of the conspirators killing Julius Caesar since Brutus is of high esteem.
