Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, also known as OCD, is caused when a chemical
imbalance in the brain causes the affected region of the brain to become overactive. The chemical affected in the brain is serotonin and communication between the frontal lobe, along with deeper parts of the brain are disrupted which cause cells to become stuck and lead to deep periods of thinking and repetitive moments. OCD can affect peoples lives gravely and in the long run, may cause them to have deep depression, large obsessions, and preoccupation with things such as colors, order and symmetry, and many other things. If OCD is untreated, it can ruin relationships, change lifestyles, and cause simple everyday tasks to become large ordeals.
