Mike Clark China Reaction Paper Comparative Politics In The Revolutionist’s Handbook George Bernard Shaw wrote, “Revolutions have never lightened the burden of tyranny: they have only shifted it to another shoulder.” Between the years of 1945-1949 Mao Zedong led a revolution in China. Following in the footsteps of the French and Russian revolutionaries, the Chinese were empowered by a feeling of helplessness to better one’s situation. However, like their predecessors, the Chinese have traded one tyrannical regime for another. Mao Zedong was the Chairman of the Communist Party of China and leader of the Red Army. He was known for his philosophic ways and inspirational overtone. Mao once said, “Nothing is hard in this world if you scale the height.“ The basic premise of Zedong’s political philosophy was that traditional Marxism could be implemented in an agriculturally based economy if done so via revolutionary tactics.
