When winter comes along the only I look forward to is the snow. I know once snow has fallen the slopes are ready and waiting. I am a snowboarder. I started when I was in the sixth grade and havent stopped since. With every new winter comes with new moves, tricks, and experiences. There is only one bad thing about going snowboarding, and its the skiers. They are the most self centered people on the entire mountain. Why does riding on two blades make them any better than anyone else? There have been so many arguments and fights over snowboarding and skiing and still no final results have come about.
In 1965 a man named Sherman Poppen grabbed a solid piece of wood and put rubber pads on top of it so his feet would grip. This very simple design was actually the first snowboard invented. Back in the past all snowboards were made of solid wood which was very heavy and not very flexible. Now a snowboard is one piece of fiberglass with curved ends so it is possible to go over bumps and what not. The fiberglass is very light and flexible but still strong.
