Cancer can develop in any tissue of any organ at any age. A complete history and physical examination are prerequisites to early diagnosis and may also allow staging of a patientÂ’s cancer. When a physician performs an examination they need to focus on lymph nodes, lungs, breasts, abdomen, and to rectal and vaginal examinations. The patient should actively participate in the recognition of early signs of malignancy; cooperation in self-examination and in acceptance of diagnosis tests and therapy is essential for optimal results.
