“Desiree’s Baby” by Kate Chopin and “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman both present the theme of the women's lack of power and inferiority in a patriarchal society. Both authors talk about their feminist views and their experiences through their writing. Back in their time women acted as servants for their men and had to do abide by their rules. Men always presumed as being the dominant ones and were in control of everything. It was difficult to express a woman’s feelings or thoughts in a world ruled by males. During the late 1800’s woman were looked upon on having no effect on society other than conceiving children, cooking and cleaning the house. On the other hand men did the work, they held the knowledge, and they held the key to society (That’s what they believed). It was very hard for women to speak out or stand up for themselves with men and their society growing up to believe that only men plays the dominant role.
