The sexist attitude of men towards women has been around for thousands of years. Coming from a Hispanic background I have seen what fools men can be and how hurtful their actions are towards their wives, daughters and mothers. Thankfully, times are changing and the sexist attitudes are not being tolerated as much because women are reaching the male stature in the professional field. This is the reason why I agree with Charles Fourier in saying that whenever men disgrace women, they end up degrading themselves. The two stories that Ive chosen to explain my opinion are The Revolt of Mother by Mary E. Wilkins Freeman and The Fraternal Bond as A Joking Relationship by Peter Lyman. The reason that Ive chosen these stories is because they are clear examples of men degrading women. In The Revolt of Mother, Mother has lived for forty years accepting the selfishness of her husband, but when she begins her revolt against her husband, no one can stop her.
