Carries War by Nina Bawden is a good story but a good story is not enough. Carries War has a plot but it is a good story because it has well developed characters, themes, a setting, and climatic scenes, has and achieves a purpose and is written well with effective language features and structure.
The Characters in Carries War are well developed, realistic, have interesting personalities, and are important in telling the story. Caroline Willow is the female protagonist in the novel because the plot is told as a flashback of Carries childhood. Carrie is described descriptively those are pretty eyes you have girl, like green glass and also has emotions and reactions that a realistic. Mr Evans is strict and wants things to always be in order and done properly, most people dislike him but this is because he has had a hard life. Nick calls him an ogre, but as the children get to learn about his past and his family troubles they realise he is not the ogre he once was. Auntie Lou, is timid, is frightened by Mr Evans, has no idea of how to stand up for herself, but is very kind......
