Plato and Nietzsches Accounts of Virtue Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report
Throughout history there have been many different views on what traits a particular person should possess. Philosophers refer to these traits as virtues or a person s ability to conform to a standard or having a moral excellence (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). One of the earliest accounts of this ideal standard was in Platos teaching or in the reading of the Republic. Then again in the late 1800s Friedrich Nietzsche established what his account of the ideal virtues and morals were of a person. These two philosophical thinkers had very different views on what good virtues were and how these characteristics effected or intermixed with political responsibilities and the civic realm.
Nietzsche has two different classes of morality in his teachings. One of these classes is referred to as the slave morality and the other as the master morality.
