Harriet Tubman Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Harriet Tubman was the youngest of ten children born to Ben and Harriet Ross. Her childhood was happy, just like any other child, playing on dirt floors in the cabin. She was called Minty. Harriet Tubman was an escaped slave. She helped so many of her black people that she became known as Moses of her People. My belief's on Harriet Tubman is that she is a very courageous woman. Harriet was believed to be born in 1820 or 1821, nobody’s sure of the exact year. Her real name was Araminta Ross. Her parents’ names were Harriet Greene and Benjamin Ross. Harriet was born on a plantation in Dorchester County, Maryland. She later adopted her mother’s name. Harriet began work at the age of 5 as a maid, next as child’s nurse, and then she became a field cropper at age 12. In 1844, Harriet got permission from her master to marry a free black man named John Tubman. In 1847, Harriet’s master died, so she fled north to freedom.
