Jean Piaget’s Stages of Cognitive Development Psychologist, Jean Piaget, created the Four Stages of Cognitive Development. His studies were so influential that he changed how psychologists viewed children and their development, forever. Piaget, believed during infancy, childhood and the time of adolescence that humans, in order to understand the world around them, perform experiments to gain the knowledge they innately desire. Acting as little scientists, the children form their own theories, perform experiments and have conclusions in order to adapt to the world. By adulthood they will be able to utilize such skills in order to survive in the world they are living in. We will further explore how Piaget’s stages & sub stages of cognitive development applies to us all. The first stage is the sensorimotor stage. This stage lasts from birth to two years old. It is during the stage that the child is only able to think about the world by interacting with it. The reflexes and needs of the child drive it to interact with the world even if the idea scares them, their mind......
