Social Stresses of the 1920's Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Throughout the “roaring” 1920’s, the U.S. experienced harsh and chaotic times along with many social stresses. At the end of World War I it was clear that drastic changes had come about. The United States was now a world power, the Soviet Union was born, and problems in America were on the verge of breaking out. The end of the war also created many changes for the American public. The Red Scare was the cause of trouble with labor unions. It also led to a number of race riots, and bombs threats. Immigration along with racism issues such as the Sacco and Vanzetti incident continued to be an ongoing problem. The Scopes Monkey trial, in Dayton, Tennessee dramatically rattled American views and opinions. The 1920’s may very well be the most bitter and dark decade in U.S. history. The fear of different races became an ongoing problem in the early 20’s. Groups such as blacks, Jews, and Catholics contributed immensely to immigration.
