Womens Roles in Pride and Prejudice and A Doll’s House Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Women’s Roles The novel Pride and Prejudice and A Doll’s House were written in the early 19th century when women rights first started to change for the good. They both have women being the main characters in each of the stories, which for the time was uncommon because of the era. In Pride Prejudice the main concern of the parents were to let the daughters marry the new young man who just moved to their town which was very wealthy, because the main aspect of the era in English society was to marry into a very wealthy family. These ideas compare with Austen’s time and our own that enable the reader to fully understand what the roles of women were. While in A Doll’s House, the women have to be a supporter of their husband and stay at home to take care of the children. The roles of women have changed greatly since when these two stories were written. In the early 19th century it was frowned upon whenever women tried to be independent .
