INTRODUCTION
It is year 2006 and terrorism is a subject that lies imbedded in the minds of millions, some fortunate enough to only witness it through media, others faced with the devastation outside their front doors. Terrorism is not a new phenomenon, it may seem as such since the attacks on 9/11 and the wide spread media coverage, but it has been in existence since the beginning of time. What is new is threats that it posses, the techniques used and the desire to impose mass devastation on civilian casualties. With the advancement of technology came the advancement of terrorist groups, creating a difficult challenge for those responsible to counteract this threat. As we continue we will look at the ways in which terrorism has changed (developing into what we call new terrorism) to gain a better understanding how to prevent and prepare for any future attacks.
