John Dalton Free Essay, Term Paper and Book Report

Atomic theory is used in chemistry and physics. This is a theory of the nature of matter, which states that matter is composed of separate units called atoms, while opposite to outdated views that matter could be divided into random small amounts. The atomic theory sis not just appears out of thin air. There are plenty of people that have contributed to this theory or may even have their own on the topic. John Dalton is one of those well known people for his support towards the atomic theory. John Dalton was born on September 6, 1766 in Eaglesfield, Cumberland (now Cumbria), England. His father was a poor Quaker weaver. He went to school when he was young in a village. Later on he began to teach the other children in the village and also helped out local farmers in the fields. In 1781 he moved to Kendal to teach in a Quaker school there. After the school master retired in 1785, John and his brother Jonathan took over the school. Between the years of 1787 and 1788, John gave lectures in Kendal on natural history. In 1793 he moved to Manchester for a job as a tutor for mathematics ......
