The significant of sexism in the Scarlet Letter The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne is a famous novel that reveals the strictness and harshness of the puritan community. Hester Prynne is a woman in the puritan community who conducted a significant sin that will hunt her rest of her life, she is an adulterer. Because of it she was tormented by the whole community, bashed, and looked down upon. Of course Hester was not alone on her sin, the town’s reverend Dimmesdale is sinful lover. Although because of his statue in the town he was extremely ashamed to reveal the truth and to also admit that he is also a sinner and the people should not put all the blame on Hester. Also reading this novel enlightened me into thinking that if Hester Prynne was of another gender what would her fate been. The Scarlet Letter is a significant novel about love, betrayed, and sin but because I read between the lines I discovered one significant issue that will never die in society.
